U.S. Parks - forest conservation
Issues facing u.s parks
National parks are inviting places, especially for non-native species that can cause havoc once they move in. Plants and insects often hitchhike to our shores on boats or airplanes while other species, like snakes, are intentionally imported for the exotic pet trade. When turned loose with no competition, invasive species can run amok in an ecosystem and send a park’s native residents toward extinction.
If Earth’s climate continues to change as scientists predict it will, the national parks will be impacted like the rest of the planet. Glaciers may melt away, as indeed they are at Glacier National Park in Montana. Fire seasons may grow in length and severity, and the landscape may shift under the feet of the parks’ wild residents.

national park service - kelp forest monitoring- Channel islands
The kelp forest monitoring program is associated with national park service to help protect the kelp forest. Due to the dramatic changes in the ecosystem the kelp forest has been decreasing. Such dramatic changes include the storm El Niño, pollution, sedimentation, and fluctuating water temperatures. Since there was a decline in the kelp forests it caused declines in fish species. To help increase the kelp forests they placed almost 20% of the channel islands in marine protected areas. "Kelp Forest Monitoring"
NATIONAL PARK SERVICE - Alganak wild river
The headwaters of Alagnak Wild River are located with the Aleutian Range of neighboring Katmai National Park and Preserve. Meandering west towards Bristol Bay and the Bering Sea, the Alagnak passes by the beautiful Alaska Peninsula, providing an unparalleled opportunity to experience the unique wilderness, wildlife, and cultural heritage of southwest Alaska.
The Park Services in Alganak WIld River monitor any activities that occur during park times and ensure that no vandalism is made towards the river or wild life, considering that many of the land is privately owned. The Park helps ensure that it stays in tact by not allowing vehicles to enter the park due to pollution. "Private Land and the Alagnak Wild River"

Petrified Forest National Park
Long ago, the park was once a flooded estate but would later be lifted far above sea level, showing many logs from trees and vast amounts of wild life. There was much destruction from time to time due to the weather climate and would typically damage trees or the habitats of other wild life.

This programs offers a great understanding on how people develop the critical thinking skills they need to understand the complexities of ecological problems. And also encourages people to think for their own when dealing with natural resources along with using them in a responsible manner. " U.S. Department of Agriculture"
