virunga projects
Elephants in Virunga right now are being killed for their tusks. Poachers keep wanting to hunt them and kill them to cut their tusks for them to sell. The rangers are risking their life to protect the elephants life. They are only willing to save the lives of the elephants in the Virunga area so the rangers can find new skills.
The soldiers in Virunga use the bloodhounds so they can sniff out the poachers. Bloodhounds are known for their great noses. All of the soldiers have bloodhound for this program. The reason for this program is to try to protect the park better by searching for the animals endangered and also to find any intruders in the park. Please donate some money to help the rangers protect the elephants from the poachers.

The Senkwekwe Center in Rumangabo is the only facility in the world that cares for orphaned mountain gorillas. All four of the gorillas in the center were victimised by poachers or animal traffickers. The gorillas receive veterinary care from arguably the most skilled Gorilla Doctors in the world. In 2009, when control of Virunga was regained by Chief Warden Merode and the rangers, the staff began raising awareness about the two mountain gorilla orphans. Toward the end of 2009, the park started an online campaign to raise money, within two months they had $211,000. Two other gorillas were added in 2010, and the program is doing well.
